Unit Summary

In this unit, children explore the lives of Kings and Queens and discover what it means to be a royal leader. They learn about Kings and Queens from the past, including how they lived, where they lived, and what they did, before comparing royal life in the past with the role of King Charles III today.

Throughout the unit, children explore royal residences, pastimes such as jousting and feasts, and symbols linked to royalty. Using stories, photographs, discussion and practical activities, they develop their understanding of the past, learn to draw comparisons, and build a rich vocabulary for talking about people, places and events over time.
