Words and meanings to learn
tissue
a group of similar cells which work together to perform a specific function. This can be more than 1 type of cell.
leaf epidermis
the outer layer of cells covering the leaf surface, providing protection and aiding in the regulation of gas exchange.
stomata
the holes in the leaf surface, which allow water to exit the leaf and gases to exchange.
spongy mesophyll cell
are specialised plant cells located in the leaf that facilitate gas exchange and support photosynthesis by providing spaces for air and enabling the movement of carbon dioxide.
palisade cell
the cell found in the leaf that is responsible for the majority of photosynthesis.
