red blood cell
a biconcave disc shaped cell which carries oxygen around the body. It contains haemoglobin and has no nucleus.
white blood cell
a blood cell which is part of the immune system, they engulf bacteria, produce antitoxins and antibodies which help fight diseases.
platelets
small fragments of cells which help to clot blood.

Blood is a vital fluid in the body that transports oxygen, nutrients, and waste products, playing a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis and supporting various bodily functions.
plasma
the straw-coloured liquid which transports the blood cells around the body. It has substances such as hormones, urea and glucose dissolved in it which can be transported to target organs and tissues.
