The movement of water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane from an area of lower solute concentration to an area of higher solute concentration.
hypertonic
Hypertonic solutions have a higher concentration of solutes compared to another solution, resulting in water moving out of cells placed in such solutions.

The process of gathering and measuring information during an experiment.
osmotic point
the concentration of solution at which there is no net movement of water into or out of the cell.
hypotonic
Hypotonic solution has a lower concentration of solutes compared to another solution, causing cells to swell as water flows into them by osmosis.
