lever

a simple machine that consists of a rigid bar that pivots around a fixed point called the fulcrum

moment

the measure of the turning effect of a force acting at a distance from a pivot point

turning effect

the rotational equivalent of force; it refers to the ability of a force to cause an object to rotate around a pivot point or axis

gear

a rotating wheel with teeth that interlock with another gear or part to transmit torque and change the direction or speed of rotational movement

force multiplier

a machine or mechanism that increases the input force, allowing a smaller force to have a greater effect; levers, gears and pulleys are examples of force multipliers
