A Physical Training Instructor, often referred to as a PTI, is responsible for developing and delivering fitness programmes to individuals or groups. In the UK, PTIs work in various settings such as the armed forces, police, schools, leisure centres, and private gyms. Their duties include planning exercise routines, teaching sports skills, leading group fitness classes, and motivating participants to improve their physical fitness. PTIs also assess fitness levels, monitor progress, and provide guidance on injury prevention and healthy lifestyles. To become a PTI, you typically need a recognised fitness qualification such as a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills are essential in this role.
